Birding and Wildlife Watching in Susnguakti Forest of Manokwari

Susnguakti is a lower montane forest of Arfak mountains. It is approximately 1 hour ride from Manokwari city. 

Visitors can spend 3 days/ 2 nights in basecamp of Susnguakti forest to watch Lesser Birds of Paradise, King Bird of Paradise, and Magnificent Riflebird in the forest as well as other tropical birds of New Guinea.

In addition to birds, visitors can also walk in the forest to watch snakes, monitor lizards, bandicoot, cuscus, butterflies and beetles.

Accommodation

There is no guesthouse or homestay in the forest of Susnguakti. There is a simple camp and toilet. Tourists can bring sleeping bags and mosquito nets. 

Visitors need to wear hiking boots and bring flashlights. Food such as rice, bread, smoked fish, eggs, noodles can be bought from supermarket in Manokwari. Jungle vegetables are available in the forest.
